Thanks to those that attended the Reflection Day at the end of April.
It was a rich time and offered much to ponder in relation to the ongoing future of The Coracle Trust.
Trustees are currently in the midst of discerning next steps and more information will be posted shortly.
Kenny and Bridget Macaulay, founders of The Coracle Trust, have recently moved on to take up a new ministry at Epiphany House in Cornwall. Their contribution to the work of the Trust has been enormous and they will be sadly missed. Trustees and Coracle members wish them well in their new venture.
With the change in circumstances, Trustees are currently seeking to discern the way forward for the Trust. During this time of discernment, the Trust is not running a formal programme of meetings and events. Some groups are, however, continuing to meet on an informal basis.
An Afternoon of Reflection is to be held on Sunday 26th May from 2-5pm at Nicholson Square Methodist Church in Edinburgh to discern the next steps for the Trust. All those that have been involved in Coracle Groups are welcome to attend.
Information on the outcome of the Reflection event and the future of the Trust will be posted in due course.
The Male Spirituality Group meets on the last Wednesday of each month. This term we are working with ‘A Spiritual Formation Workbook’ by James Bryan Smith & Lynda Graybeal which seeks to foster a balanced vision of Christian faith and practice by examining different dimensions of spiritual formation. The next meeting is on 20th February, 7:45 for 8:00. For more info. please feel free to contact Kenny Macaulay at kbmac@gmx.net, 0131 667 6856.
The Two Halves of Life Group, established last term, continues to meet on the last Wednesday of the month. This term we are exploring how we mature in our expression of Christian faith. We are using a combination of material to foster discussion including scripture, reflections on Adult Christianity by Ronald Rolheiser and Richard Rohr, poetry and the visual arts. The next meeting will be on 27th February, 7pm for meal, 8pm for meeting.
For further information about this group and future meetings please contact Kenny or Bridget Macaulay at kbmac@gmx.net, 0131 667 6856.
The Coracle Tuesday Group starts a new season on Tuesday 4th Sept. This being the first term of the year we will consider our ‘journey in’. This term’s study and discussions will be aimed at encouraging one another to read and pray with the psalms and, as our starting point, we will be using Eugene Peterson’s book “Answering God”.
We’ve set up an online donations facility on the Charity Choice website to make it easier to make one-off donations to Coracle. Charity Choice provides a completely secure donations facility, accepts all major credit cards, and allows contributors to specify whether Coracle can reclaim tax on donations under the Gift Aid scheme.
You can go direct to our online donations page on Charity Choice or access the facility through our Support page.
On Saturday 9th June we will be heading over to Fife to have a tour of the Fife Earthship.
The Earthship is a passive solar building with thermal mass. This means that it maintains a comfortable living temperature year round. It is made from natural and recycled materials - predominantly earth-rammed tyres and aluminium cans. It is powered by renewable energy, such as wind, water and solar power. It catches its own water supply from rainwater, and treats and contains its own sewage in planter beds.
For more information have a look at the Earthship website.
Everyone welcome...we’ll hopefully combine the tour with a walk to make a day of it. Please for more information.
During this summer term we will be exploring the ‘Journey Together’. This term we will be thinking a bit
about what community is and how it might work (or not work!!). We hope it will be useful to think about this in relation to church communities but also other communities we are all part of to varying degrees.
Dates and more info coming soon…
